I really like how Kickstarter is changing the way projects are funded. I guess, it’s a good idea to make a regular round-up of several projects on this website I decided to pledge during the last days or weeks. If you still don’t know, what Kickstarter is, ask Wikipedia<\/a>. Here a small excerpt:<\/p>\n

Kickstarter is a crowd funding website for creative projects. Kickstarter has funded a diverse array of endeavors, ranging from indie films, music and comics to journalism, video games, and food-related projects.\u00a0(…) Kickstarter facilitates gathering monetary resources from the general public, a model which circumvents many traditional avenues of investment. People must apply to Kickstarter in order to have a project posted on the site, and Kickstarter provides guidelines on what types of projects will be accepted. Project owners choose a deadline and a target minimum of funds to raise. If the chosen target is not gathered by the deadline, no funds are collected (this is known as a provision point mechanism). Money pledged by donors is collected using Amazon Payments.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If you still can’t connect to the idea, at least believe me that being part of a fundamental change in funding creativity can be addictive.<\/p>\n

Some ongoing projects, I’ve pledged so far are -of course- the new Jane Jensen studio<\/a> (if you’re into adventure games, it’s a must) and the very underrated project R\u00e9publique (yes, another game). If you were into products like „In Memoriam“ or „eXperience 112“ you should check this out<\/a>, too. We’re in desperate need of more money there. Another media project is Inner Dream<\/a>. I like the idea, however for the moment, it’s just 14 backers and I doubt a little that it’ll make it.<\/p>\n

More recently, I pledged for Dime<\/a>. I love interactive novels. And I love comics. This has both in it. Just a pitty, that it’s not printed but just PDF. The look is pretty nice already, too:<\/p>\n

Rest assured, there is much more to come. Especially if you’re in games like myself (but feel free to browse Kickstarter, you’ll realize that soon, it’s like shopping at Amazon – just for a much better cause!).
