It’s only half a year ago I did the cliffwalk at Howth in Ireland, but it’s a real nice cliff with abysmal heights, noisy breakers and always a fresh breeze. The surface can be quite uneven, so one has to take care a little, but it’s still a good opportunity for promenading. This time, however, we experienced something quite surrealistic.<\/p>\n

As it was January, the way was extremly moody and we were slipping like hell and must have looked like the daffiest ducks, when suddendly…<\/p>\n

… we realized this in the willow:<\/p>\n

Is it a bird? Is it an airplane? No! It’s an Opel Astra, right in the middle of nowhere.<\/p>\n

Well, the Howth Cliffs might definetly be a nifty place for suicides. Why not settle your account with a cool, big jump into the Irish sea. Well, this person didn’t succeed as the car crashed to early, but it was close:<\/p>\n

Now here is the strange part: It’s a peninsula, which mainly contains of a big cliff. Far and wide, there is no street, just green, green and again green gras and many, many rocks. Whoever drove this car must have bombed it over the hills like hell. Either the person had a real addiction to it’s suicide place or was just completely drunk. Being in Ireland, the latter seems more realistic. These are the last 100 meters, the car has chosen to plunge down…<\/p>\n

…without damaging it nearly as much as one would expect. Praise to Opel. We checked the car -and yup- there was no one in there. One could see that the person smashed its head against the windshield, then seems to have opened the right door and left. At night, we found out, that the female occupant has already been brought to hospital and is stable. Hope, everything went good for her. Don’t know, when she will pick up her car, though.<\/p>\n

Concerning the beauty of this countryside, the Opel Astra really was pretty surrealistic and strange. At first, we expected it beeing here in the middle of impassable land is some kind of modern art. For now, let’s not forget: Drive carefully, especially when there are cliffs, rocks and muddy grass. After this experience, we moved to the harbour side of Howth, with a shortview over Ireland’s Eye and the still beautiful sunset over this nice little town.<\/p>\n
